Strategic thinking and transformational change rarely occur in the chaotic environment of our day-to-day business and personal lives. Founded by Lesley and her business partners as a retreat to host individuals and small groups seeking personal and corporate growth and change.

Owls Head Retreat is a privately owned facility on a small rugged island jutting 15 kilometers out in St Margaret’s Bay, approximately 45 kilometers from Halifax near Northwest Cove and the Aspotogan Peninsula (opposite shore to Peggy’s Cove). Refer to the instructions at right. Visitors driving the Blandford peninsula cannot help but enjoy the breath taking ocean views of St. Margaret’s Bay with views of Shut In Island and Peggy’s Cove in the distance.

Owls Head Island is joined by a bridge to the mainland at Southwest Cove. The island currently houses 8 private year-round residences. Owls Head Retreat offers 5 bedrooms, 3 baths and a 3 bedroom cottage in the planning stages.

The facility’s mascot and spiritual leader is a west coast Hieda totem pole depicting an eagle and a man (eagle guides mankind) which seems a fitting spirit for this special place.

The facility offers it guests cathedral ceilings, sky lights, a beach-stone fireplace, gourmet kitchen and wrap-around decks with a hammock that is guaranteed to put you to sleep.

The facility is built on a bluff on the Southwest Cove side of the island with several balconies extending out over the rocks looking out at a private dock and various boats including a sailboat, kayaks and a Zodiac.

The view depicts the passage between Owls Head Island and Southwest Island, a popular passageway for sailors looking for the shortest route between St. Margaret’s and Mahone Bay.

The property also includes frontage on St. Margaret’s Bay with great views of Shut In Island and the Eastern shore of St. Margaret’s Bays. The site offers excellent sailing into Mahone and St. Margaret’s Bays, including access to various offshore island locations such as Ironbound and Tancook Islands; well-known to local sailors.

Boaters and landlubbers are equally treated to an amazing array of wild life including seals, porpoises and whales. There is exciting bird-watching as well, that includes a wide cross section of wild ducks and some of the more predatory species such as eagles and hawks. Several beaches are nearby including Bayswater, Hubbards and Queensland.
